A Tanzania-flagged vessel is partially submerged south of Iran’s Kish Island, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim information company reported on Wednesday, including that the reason for the incident was below investigation.
The company cited an Iranian official as saying the 9 crew members have been rescued from the vessel, which was carrying 2,500 tons of white cement.
The incident occurred round 13:30 native time. The vessel was en route from Ras Al Khaimah in United Arab Emirates to Shuaiba Port in Kuwait, when it started taking over water roughly two miles south of Kish Island, prompting an emergency announcement.
The vessel is presently in a semi-sunken state, exhibiting extreme tilting, Tasnim added.
