KCNA via REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>North Korea Tests Cruise and Anti-Ship Missiles from Destroyer<\/p>\n<p>SEOUL, April 14 (Reuters)\u00a0\u2013\u00a0North Korea conducted another test-fire of strategic cruise missiles and anti-warship missiles on Sunday as part of operational efficiency trials of its destroyer Choe Hyon, state media KCNA said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Leader Kim Jong Un observed the test alongside senior defense officials and naval commanders, the report\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p>Two strategic cruise missiles and three anti-warship missiles were fired to check the warship\u2019s integrated weapons command system, train crews in missile-launch procedures and verify the accuracy and anti-jamming performance of upgraded navigation systems, KCNA said.<\/p>\n<p>The cruise missiles flew for about 7,869 to 7,920 seconds and the anti-warship missiles for about 1,960 to 1,973 seconds over waters off the country\u2019s western coast, striking their targets with what the report\u00a0described as ultra-precision accuracy.<\/p>\n<p>KCNA said Kim was briefed the same day on weapons system plans for two additional destroyers under construction.<\/p>\n<p>Kim said strengthening what he called the country\u2019s nuclear war deterrent remained a top priority, and called for improving strategic and tactical strike capabilities and rapid-response readiness, the report\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p>Pyongyang\u00a0first test-fired\u00a0weapons on the 5,000-ton Choe Hyon-class warship in April 2025, and Kim personally\u00a0oversaw\u00a0a missile test from the ship last March.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mh-source-attribution\">\n  <span>Source:<\/span><br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/gcaptain.com\/north-korea-tests-cruise-and-anti-ship-missiles-from-destroyer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">gcaptain<\/a>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>View of what state media KCNA reported was a test-firing of the weapons system of the new &#8220;Choe Hyon-class&#8221; warship, in this picture released on April 30, 2025, by the Korean Central News Agency.
