The service further strengthens PIL\u2019s comprehensive Africa network.<\/p>\n<p>The Ubuntu Express is introduced in response to growing trade demand between Asia and South Africa, driven by rising consumer markets, expanding industrial activity, and increasing flows of agricultural, temperature\u2011sensitive and manufactured goods. By offering enhanced connectivity and competitive transit times, UBX enables customers to move cargo more efficiently between key production hubs in Asia and high\u2011growth consumption and export markets in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Named after the South African philosophy of \u201cUbuntu\u201d, which emphasises humanity, community and interconnectedness, the service reflects PIL\u2019s customer centric approach to building shipping solutions that foster shared growth and deeper trade integration across regions.<\/p>\n<p>The first sailing of the Ubuntu Express will commence from Shanghai on 28 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPIL has been serving Africa for decades, building deep market knowledge, strong partnerships and a trusted network across the continent,\u201d said Mr William Ho, General Manager, Long\u2011haul Services, PIL. \u201cThe launch of Ubuntu Express reflects our continued commitment to growing our presence in the region, complementing our existing services to add capacity and better support the burgeoning Asia\u2013South Africa trade demand.
