BC Ferries submits five-newbuild plan to increase ferry capacity

BC Ferries has now formally submitted a plan to construct 5 new vessels to the BC Ferries Commissioner. The corporate stated that if authorised, the venture could be the biggest capital funding within the organisation’s historical past, rising ferry capability, resiliency, and reliability for British Columbia’s coastal communities and economies.

In 2024, BC Ferries dealt with its highest peak season site visitors ever. The venture proposes to switch 4 ageing vessels and add one new vessel to the fleet, including area on the busiest routes between Vancouver and Vancouver Island.
