The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced two males from a raise boat roughly 40 miles offshore from Marsh Island, Louisiana, on Sunday.
The incident started round 7:53 p.m. when Coast Guard District Eight watchstanders acquired a notification from the raise boat BRAZOS that two males wanted medical consideration following a hearth onboard.
The Coast Guard District Eight coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew to execute the medevac. The aircrew arrived on the scene, hoisted the boys aboard, and transported them to awaiting emergency medical providers personnel at Our Woman of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The hearth was efficiently extinguished, and no air pollution was reported. The reason for the fireplace is at present beneath investigation.
