Equinor to Enhance Barents Sea Safety with New Emergency Preparedness Scheme

Equinor stated it is a collaboration with Vår Energi, operator of the Goliat area, and initiated by the Barents Sea Operation Cooperation (BASOP). The Norwegian Ocean Trade Authority has given its consent to the institution of the area-wide emergency preparedness system, which shall be operational from January 1, 2025.

The brand new area-wide emergency preparedness system will additional strengthen the emergency preparedness and is dimensioned to cope with emergency preparedness incidents in an ocean space characterised by lengthy distances, harsh climate situations, and essential pure assets.
