UK hobbles North Sea oil to push offshore wind fantasy

Exploration for oil and fuel within the North Sea began within the Nineteen Sixties and industrial manufacturing began in 1975. The basin reached peak output of 4.4 million barrels of oil equal per day (boed) firstly of the millennium.

Manufacturing has since declined as reservoirs depleted, reaching round a million boed in 2024, in keeping with the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) regulator.

It mentioned output is ready to fall to round 660,000 boed by 2029.
