Herring quota increase for 2026 agreed by European coastal states

Norway’s Minister of Fisheries and the Oceans, Marianne Sivertsen Næss, acknowledged, “It’s constructive that the coastal states have agreed on a complete quota for subsequent 12 months, and thru bilateral agreements we have now managed to cut back the precise fishing stress on the inventory.”

The minister additionally added that Norway will proceed to work in the direction of a complete distribution settlement that features all coastal states and energetic fishing events for NVG herring.
