New Advanced Rescue Boat CCGS Groswater Bay Joins Canadian Coast Guard Fleet

The aluminium-hulled, 19-metre boat was designed by Vancouver-based naval structure agency Robert Allan Ltd and constructed by Hike Metallic Merchandise of Ontario. The design is a growth of the Severn-class lifeboats operated by the UK’s Royal Nationwide Lifeboat Establishment (RNLI).

Enhancements over the Severn-class embrace a bigger measurement, larger vary, and particular design components for coping with excessive climate situations encountered year-round within the waters off Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. The boat due to this fact has self-righting means and is sturdy sufficient to face up to 12-metre seas and Beaufort Pressure 12 situations.
