China’s Wuhu Shipyard has begun building on 5 new containerships in a sequence ordered by native shipowner Jiangsu Ocean Transport. Classed by China Classification Society, the vessels may have all-electric propulsion, a size of 79.94 metres, a beam of 12.65 metres, and a capability of 120 TEUs.
Every ship’s electrical propulsion system will consist of three,400kWh lithium iron phosphate battery packs and 240kW motors. This configuration will ship a velocity of seven.5 knots and a spread of 220 kilometres.
The vessels might be operated totally on the Yangtze River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. They belong to the identical sequence as Jiangyuan Baihe, which was delivered to Jiangsu Ocean Transport in 2023.
