US Navy’s shipbuilding costs could average US$40b per year through 2054

An evaluation of the US Navy’s 2025 Shipbuilding Plan reveals that the service’s complete shipbuilding prices would common about US$40 billion per yr (in 2024 {dollars}) by way of 2054 as a fleet of 390 battle power ships is constructed, the US Congressional Price range Workplace (CBO) mentioned earlier this week.

Every year, as directed by Congress, the US Division of Protection submits a report with the President’s finances describing the navy’s plan for its future fleet for the following 30 years. On this report, the CBO analyses the navy’s 2025 plan and estimates its prices.
