Situated within the North Sea about 53 kilometres off the Dutch coast, the OranjeWind challenge was received by RWE in 2022 as a part of the Dutch Hollandse Kust West VII tender. RWE then dedicated to creating electrolysers, to which TotalEnergies will now additionally contribute.
Along with producing inexperienced energy and hydrogen, OranjeWind can even assist the soundness of the Dutch grid with its electrical boilers and battery storage. Development of the wind farm is scheduled to begin in 2026, with full commissioning in early 2028.
