Tsuneishi Delivers Japan’S First Hydrogen Dual-Fuel


Tsuneishi Shipbuilding has delivered Ten-Oh, Japan’s first tugboat outfitted with a hydrogen-powered inside combustion engine.

The 38-meter tugboat is provided with a BeHydro high-output hydrogen dual-fuel engine and a high-pressure hydrogen gasoline storage system with large-capacity and provide system, equipped by JPNH2YDRO — a three way partnership between Tsuneishi Group and CMB.TECH.

The vessel was developed and constructed underneath The Nippon Basis’s Zero Emission Ships Undertaking which goals to develop vessels with zero CO₂ emissions.

The newly delivered tugboat is powered by twin 12-cylinder hydrogen-blended engines (4,400 horsepower class) and shops round 250kg of hydrogen in high-pressure tanks. This ensures operational efficiency equal to traditional gas use, while enabling vital CO2 reductions.
