US$9 Million Grant by NOAA Fisheries to Boost Pacific Salmon Recovery Efforts

UC Santa Cruz researchers throughout disciplines, together with molecular ecology, fisheries biology, and local weather science, will work intently with NOAA scientists via the Fisheries Collaborative Program. They may produce transformative analysis in help of NOAA Fisheries’ science-based salmon restoration plans.

“The goal of the work is to create new instruments that may consider the effectiveness and price of various restoration methods and fill vital data gaps,” stated Steve Lindley, Director of the Southwest Fisheries Science Heart’s Fisheries Ecology Division in Santa Cruz, California. “This may embrace work throughout all of the habitats that salmon use over the course of their lives—rivers, estuaries, and the ocean.”
