ST Engineering Secures ADSB Sub-Contract for Kuwait’s New Missile Gun Boat Fleet

# ST Engineering Secures ADSB Sub-Contract for Kuwait’s New Missile Gun Boat Fleet

ST Engineering’s Marine business has won a six-year sub-contract valued at approximately S$600 million from Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) to design and supply platform systems for eight Missile Gun Boats under construction for the Kuwait Naval Force. The contract underscores ST Engineering’s position as a key systems integrator for regional naval modernization programmes in the Middle East.

The project reflects ongoing defence investments across the Gulf Cooperation Council region, where maritime security capabilities remain a strategic priority. Kuwait’s acquisition of advanced missile gun boats addresses evolving threats in the Persian Gulf, a vital waterway through which approximately one-third of global seaborne traded oil passes. ADSB’s role as prime contractor demonstrates the UAE’s growing prominence as a regional shipbuilding hub, while ST Engineering’s involvement highlights Singapore’s continued significance in supplying critical naval systems and integration expertise to regional navies.

The contract award signals sustained demand for advanced naval platforms in the Middle East and positions ST Engineering for continued engagement in Gulf state defence procurement. As regional navies modernize their surface combatant fleets, platform systems suppliers capable of integrating complex weapons, sensors and propulsion technologies will remain central to these ambitious shipbuilding programmes.
